Packing Tips for Moving House
Moving house can feel overwhelming, but a little preparation can make the process much smoother. Here are some helpful packing tips from our team.
Start packing early and tackle one room at a time.
Declutter before you pack by donating, selling, or disposing of items you no longer need.
Use sturdy moving boxes and quality packing materials to protect your belongings.
Label every box with its contents and the room it belongs in.
Pack heavier items in smaller boxes and lighter items in larger boxes.
Wrap fragile items individually using packing paper or bubble wrap.
Fill empty spaces in boxes to prevent items from shifting during transit.
Keep important documents, valuables, medications, and chargers with you rather than in the moving truck.
Pack an essentials box containing items you'll need on your first night, such as toiletries, clothing, phone chargers, and basic kitchen supplies.
Seal all boxes securely with strong packing tape.
Take photos of electronic setups before disconnecting cables to make reassembly easier.
Clearly mark boxes containing fragile items so they can be handled with extra care.
Avoid over-packing boxes to reduce the risk of damage and make lifting safer.
Disassemble furniture where possible and keep screws and fittings in labelled bags.
Ensure pathways and access points are clear on moving day to help the move run efficiently.
